I think they were called mobile libraries.

That was decades ago. I can’t imagine why one has popped up in our neighborhood. Who reads anymore?

People say they are visual learners now. Pictures, videos, multimedia. I wonder if many books are even published anymore. I haven’t seen one until that mobile library in many years.

I know many books, back in the day, were banned and burned. They say it was for our own protection. I do remember they were protecting us from the Others who don’t think like we do.

Wait. Is that what we want?

    1. I think we all write, to some extent, based on our own experiences or experiences we are familiar with. Yes, sometimes social issues encourage us to speak up!

  1. There always seems to be a section of society who want to control everyone else, claiming they are ‘protecting’ everyone. I’ve often thought that history takes us back and forth, like on a swing, at certain times more of us listen to those controlling voices, and then we react and swing back to listen to the voices proclaiming freedom. I don’t know, it’s just a thought I sometimes have. I’m probably over-simplifying. I like how you refer to the ‘Others’ in your story. And I like that you start with such hopefulness, as that one small library ‘pops up’. Renaissance!!

You can see that your story has got me thinking.
