Blogging about bits of life. They tell me I’m reserved, eccentric, different…..all those adjectives that might make you feel like you don’t fit in but they don’t have that effect on me. They set me free and allow me to think and write about anything I want. I have lots of interests. You can probably already tell that from the plethora of topics I write about on this blog.

I am a former college professor and freelance writer. I was fortunate enough to have two careers in my life. One was a college professor of business/finance and the other was a freelance and contract writer for a number of Wall Street firms such as The New York Times, Abo.ut.com, SmartAsset and many more. I wrote mostly articles about finance and the U.S. economy. Now, I’m sem-retired. One of my interests in retirement is to work on this blog, The Write Scribe, and develop skills in writing fiction.

I will also write some non-fiction for my blog, primarily opinion pieces. You can look under Categories on the front page to read some of those articles. I write about a wide range of subjects including politics, lifestyle issues, aging, women’s issues, animal rights, and more. .

Being from Appalachia in the U.S., the region is one of my primary interests. I  write about the region I call my home. I have a regular Friday feature on Appalachia like this post on Appalachia and some of the region’s favorite food. I write about healthy living and what helps me get healthy. Then, something will strike my fancy and I will write about a a completely different topic that I think you might enjoy. Take a look at the topics I write about here. Maybe you will find something you like.

Join me and welcome to my blog!  I would love to meet you on social media. I don’t use Twitter since it has undergone such a transformation. I do use Facebook and am setting up an author page.

On a personal note, my family and I live in northeastern KY on the fringes of the Appalachian region of Kentucky. I have deep roots here from my mother’s family while my roots from my father’s family extend to Michigan and all the way back to Sweden. I draw my inspiration from my own imagination and many decades of living. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Pisa, Italy. A favorite place.

Here is an important member of my family, my German Shepherd dog, Sophie.

      1. I would to have your participation and critiques… especially of my things. I am trying to stretch myself in ‘length’…but not being very successful. All comments- both kind and critical- would be greatly aproectiated!

  2. I’m glad to have stumbled across your blog, I particularly like the fact you are pursuing writing in so many categories – it really gives me something to think about and aspire to. I’ve enjoyed particularly a number of your non-fiction entries. 🙂
